The Hamilton Heights swim teams won both the girls and boys competitions of their own Husky Invitational last Saturday.
The Heights girls scored 299 points, comfortably ahead of runner-up Guerin Catholic’s 221 points. The Huskies won nine of the 11 events, including double wins for Teegan Madara (200 freestyle, breaststroke), Sophia Hulen (50 and 100 freestyles) and Amira Leer (500 free and backstroke). Ayla Madara was first in the individual medley. Heights also won the medley and 400 free relays, both times with the above four swimmers.
The Golden Eagles’ Kara Van Woerkom placed second in the IM and 500 free.
In the boys meet, Heights scored 276 points to Lebanon’s 259 and Guerin Catholic’s 251. Aiden Clarke was first in the butterfly and was also part of the Huskies’ winning medley relay, joining Owen VanHaaren, Blake Blackhurst and Rowen Donald.
The Golden Eagles won the most events with seven. Will Ladine was first in the 200 free and breaststroke, Drew Wilhite won the IM and backstroke, while Sam Holl was first in the 500 free. Guerin Catholic also claimed the 200 and 400 free relays, with Charlie Jurewicz joining the afore mentioned GC swimmers.
