‘Hounds girls get first MIC win

Carmel picked up its first Metropolitan Conference win of the season on Friday, beating North Central 53-47 at the Panthers’ gym.
North Central led 15-12 after the first quarter, but the Greyhounds came back to take a 26-23 lead by halftime Bridget Dunn had seven points during that period. The Panthers cut that lead to 38-37 by the end of the third quarter, but Carmel pulled away in the fourth, with Kate Clarke adding 10 points during that quarter.
Clarke had five 3-pointers in the game, finishing with 23 points. Kiara Gill added 11 points and handed out four assists. Emily Roper pulled 12 rebounds, with Dunn collecting seven and Fatima Valiente pulling five.
The Greyhounds are 1-2 in MIC play and 5-6 overall. Carmel plays another conference game next Friday at Lawrence Central.
