Hamilton Southeastern graduate Erika (Roudebush) Mundt makes Silver Anniversary Team

Erika (Roudebush) Mundt, a 1999 graduate of Hamilton Southeastern, is among the 18 women that have been named to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame’s 2024 Silver Anniversary Team, based on outstanding accomplishments as a senior basketball player 25 years ago.

Mundt was a record-setting player for the Royals, as she set school records for single-game (41 against Anderson Highland on Feb. 9, 1999), season (669) and career points (1,276); her career point total record stood for over a decade. She also set a record for most assists in a game (12 vs. Delta on Nov. 22, 1997), 3-pointers in a game (seven during the afore-mentioned Anderson Highland game) and 3-pointers in a season (61).

Mundt received several honors during her senior season, starting with a selection to the Associated Press third-team All-State; Louisville Courier-Journal second-team All-State; North-South Indiana All-Star Classic and IndyStar Super Team. She was a two-time IndyStar all-Metro North selection, three-time all-Hamilton County selection and a two-time Hamilton County co-Player of the Year.

Mundt led Southeastern to a 1999 sectional championship, the first basketball sectional title (boys or girls) in school history. She was a three-time team MVP and a two-year team captain. Mundt also earned four letters each in cross country and track; she was a track state qualifier in 4×100 as a senior.

Mundt went on to play college basketball at Cleveland State University. She was the 2002 and 2003 team MVP at Cleveland State, as well as a 2002 first-team all-Horizon League player and a 2003 second-team all-Horizon League player.

Mundt led the Horizon League in scoring (18.2) and assists (3.4) as junior, then led the league in scoring again (18.8) as senior. She set school records for season 3-pointers (67) and career 3-pointers (190) and was also second in career 3-point percentage (.349). Mundt was fourth in career scoring (1,458 points), sixth in career assists (301) and ninth in career steals (184). Off the floor, Mundt was a member of the CSU Student-Athlete Advisory Board and the Horizon League Community Service Committee. She earned the 2000 CSU Athletic-Academic Excellence Award and made the school’s Dean’s List. Mundt played No. 3 doubles for the CSU women’s tennis team as junior.

Mundt graduated from Cleveland State with a Bachelor’s degree in sports management in 2003. She would later earn a master’s degree in sports administration from Valparaiso University in 2005 and a master’s degree in secondary education from Western Illinois University in 2009. She is a physical education teacher at Iowa City West High School and has received numerous professional awards. She is the 2017 Iowa High School P.E. Teacher of the Year, 2018 SHAPE Central District P.E. Teacher of the Year; 2018 SHAPE American High School P.E. Teacher of the Year; current SHAPE American Teacher of the Year presenter (around the nation); 2023 IAHPERD State Teacher of the Year in Iowa. Mundt has been an assistant coach with the ICWHS girls basketball team since 2011; the team won the Class 4A state title in 2012 and the 5A state title in 2018.

She is married to Nathan Mundt, the current head women’s swimming and diving coach at the University of Iowa and has three sons.

The 2024 Women’s Silver Anniversary Team members will be honored at the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame’s 22nd Women’s Awards Banquet on Saturday, April 27, 2024.
