On Tuesday, Oct. 6, the Duke Energy Foundation announced it is awarding grants to two Central Indiana organizations supporting workforce development efforts.
Locally, the Hamilton County Community Foundation (HCCF) will receive $35,000 for its Hamilton Works program.
HCCF plans to advance three goals with this funding: build a coordinated employer engagement model for Hamilton County adult workforce programs; expand Ivy Tech Community College student internships with local employers; and establish the multi-county Suburban Indy Workforce Partnership.
The shareholder-funded grants aim to equip Hoosiers with in-demand skills and industry-recognized credentials to meet the needs of the region’s employers.

“I regularly speak to business leaders and local officials in the communities we serve, and they consistently share with me that a skilled workforce is the key component of continued economic growth,” Duke Energy Indiana President Stan Pinegar said. “This grant will help expand the state’s talent pool, create opportunities for individuals facing barriers to employment, and strengthen Indiana’s competitiveness when attracting companies. It’s a smart investment in our customers and where they live and work.”
