Guerin Catholic falls to Arlington

Guerin Catholic’s boys basketball team suffered its third straight loss of the season Friday night, losing at Arlington 56-51.
Arlington (3-2) opened with the first eight points of the contest, and GC (1-3) played catch-up all game. Trailing 27-16 at halftime, GC went on a 10-0 run to start the third quarter to cut the deficit to one point. Jack Hansen scored on a three point play to give the Golden Eagles a brief 34-33 lead but eventually the 20 turnovers and 40.4 percent shooting from the field for the game was too much for them to overcome.
Hansen finished with 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Fellow seniors Zach Munson and Clay Hepp added nine and eight points, respectively. The three were instrumental in the Golden Eagles converting 10-11 free throw attempts.
“We came out pretty flat again tonight; and our turnovers really were killers for us during our comeback. We just are not making good decisions early here in the season, and not shooting it well either,” said GC coach Pete Smith. “We showed more fight in the second half, and that was a positive to go along with our free throw shooting.”
Muncie Central pays a visit to the Eagles Nest tonight.
