A Friday, Jan. 16 road trip to Indianapolis turned out to be a great one for Guerin Catholic girls basketball.
The Golden Eagles won their second game of the week and fourth in their last five, taking down the host Beech Grove Hornets, 48-33.
Guerin led 13-9 after one quarter. They were able to put a little distance between themselves and Beech Grove at halftime. Outscoring the hosts 14-6, the Golden Eagles went to the locker room with a 27-15 cushion.
Beech Grove came out firing in the third. The Hornets cut into the deficit with a 16-11 quarter, making it 38-31.
Defense became the name of the game in the fourth. Guerin scored 10 and held the Hornets to just two, allowing the Golden Eagles to push away to win by 15.
Lorigrace Rockwood and Ella Horvath both scored 14 to pace Guerin. Rockwood was a solid 7 for 8 on free throw attempts and Horvath made five field goals. Cecilia Titus scored nine, Caroline Ford eight and Emersyn French three to round out the scoring.
Guerin Catholic (13-7) welcomes the Peru Tigers (9-10) to The Nest on Wednesday.
