The Hamilton Heights boys basketball team hosted the Lapel Friday, Jan. 16.
The Huskies won their second in a row over the Bulldogs and seventh in the last 10 in the series with a 65-54 home win.
It’s always a tough, close game between Heights and Lapel. Last Friday was no different. The Huskies were able to muscle out a 15-9 first quarter lead.
The second quarter got even better for Chad Ballenger’s squad. They found wiggle room, outscoring the Bulldogs 19-8 to double up Lapel at halftime, 34-17.
Lapel’s offense came alive in the third, scoring 22 points to Heights’ 15, but the Huskies still led by 10, 49-39.
The visiting Bulldogs kept up the fight in the final quarter. But, Heights edged out Lapel in the fourth 16-15 to be able to keep them far enough away to secure the 11-point win.
This is the Huskies’ fourth straight win since Dec. 23.
Hamilton Heights (4-7) visits Lafayette Central Catholic (6-7) on Friday.
Rees Knapp led with 18, followed by Jack Kakasuleff (14) and Jackson Mikesell (11) joining in double-figures. Caleb Sullivan scored nine and Gavin Lucchesi seven to help balance the scoring.
