Girls soccer: UHS dominates opener, 11-0

The University girls soccer team opened its regular season with an 11-0 win at Broad Ripple Thursday.
Junior Halle Von Ah had a strong game, scoring four goals and two assists. Junior Lily Snyder scored three goals to help control the game. Junior Lucy Snyder added aggressiveness in the midfield and added two more goals for the Trailblazers. Sophomore Lilly Fair took a break from goalkeeping and ended the game on the field and put away a penalty kick to score the final goal. Senior Shelby Wood and juniors Hallie Harrison, Mackenzie Allen, Brooke Andrus, and Meredith Malott played strong in the back to help keep the shutout.
The Trailblazers play Saturday at Pendleton Heights.

Sheridan played to a 0-0 tie with Lebanon on Thursday.
“Even with many starters playing through injuries, the Hawks came together to play great as a unit,” said Sheridan coach Kurtis Olsan.
Sophomore Belle Holler and junior Ashton Wilson put pressure on the Lebanon defense. Sophomore Makenna Hammack and recently added sophomore Katie Cuevas patrolled the center of the field disrupting the Lebanon offense. The back line of Lilli Barker, Katherine Parsley, Kristin Martin and Makaela Mosolf helped keeper Nixon Williams keep a clean sheet.
“While all players played inspired soccer, it was senior keeper Nixon Williams that earned player of the match honors making 15 saves and coming off of her line repeatedly to smother promising Lebanon attacks,” said Olsan.
