Don’t miss Carmel’s Holiday PorchFest in the Arts & Design District

From 3 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, the City of Carmel and AAA Insurance present the Carmel Holiday PorchFest, a musical holiday celebration that will span three hours across two city blocks in the beautiful Arts & Design District neighborhood north of Main Street.

Listen to the sounds of Another Round, an Indiana University all-male a cappella group; Ladies First, Indiana University’s all-female a cappella group, Purdue Soundtracks, a co-ed a cappella group from Purdue University and Freshly Brewed, an all-female a cappella group from Butler University. Groups will perform on stages in the street every half hour.

Keep warm by the fire pits while strolling through the street, listening to the holiday music performances. Make sure you also enjoy the free treats at a special “S’mores Station” manned by AAA Insurance, a special holiday beer recipe brewed by Union Brewery, a glass of warm mulled wine from Peace Water Winery, hot coffee and sweets from Java House, or hot chocolate and other holiday treats served by Market District.

Holiday PorchFest will take place along 2nd Avenue NE from 3rd Street NE to 5th Street NE. There is plenty of parking nearby, but the Carmel Holiday Trolley will also run that day and will be able to drop you off near the entrance so you and your family can join in the fun. “The summer version of PorchFest has been extremely popular among music fans and those who just love to hang out in the Arts & Design District,” said Nancy Heck, Director of the Department of Community Relations and Economic Development. “We are excited to offer a similar community celebration of music, with a touch of holiday flair and decoration.”

Residents in the neighborhood will compete for “Best Holiday decorated porch,” the winner of which will receive a $100 gift card to Anthony’s Chop House. PorchFest Board members and AAA Insurance representatives will serve as judges and determine the winner.

The timing is perfect, as well, to enjoy Meet Me on Main taking place among the galleries, shops and restaurants through the District from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday. Thanks to Carmel’s rotating Holiday Trolley, it will also be possible to enjoy other destination points, such as Carmel City Center, the Carmel Christkindlmarkt and the Ice at Center Green.

Dress warm, bring your friends and family and make a day of it in beautiful Carmel, where the holidays are celebrated all month long.
