Cross country: County teams run at Flashrock; Heights, Noblesville girls win invites

Several Hamilton County cross country teams races in the annual Flashrock Invitational, which took place Saturday at Northview Church.
In the Boys Championship race, Carmel placed second to Cathedral, with the Irish scoring 52 points to the Greyhounds’ 39. Carmel had two runners finish in the top 10: Calvin Bates took fifth and Pat Campbell was 10th.
Guerin Catholic had the highest county finisher, with Quinn Gallagher coming in fourth place. The Golden Eagles were eighth as a team.
Noblesville placed ninth, with Travis Hickner taking 13th individually. Westfield finished in 11th as a team; Max Gutwein led the Shamrocks by placing 26th.
Carmel also placed second in the Girls Championship race. The Greyhounds were edged out by Fort Wayne Carroll 35-39.
Carmel’s Phoebe Bates won the individual race, clocking in at 18:09.2. Lindsey Roper placed sixth and Jamie Klavon was seventh.
Fishers finished fourth as a team, with Lindsey Roper taking sixth individually. Guerin Catholic was fifth as a team; Ellie Schroeder was the race runner-up in a time of 18:53.3.
Westfield finished ninth, with Sarah Coates placing 33rd individually.
Hamilton Southeastern and Fishers entered teams in the Boys Invitational race, with the Royals taking fifth and the Tigers sixth. Nolan Satterfield led Southeastern by finishing ninth, while Alec Foster placed 24th for the Tigers.
Southeastern entered runners in the Girls Invitational race, taking fourth as a team. Jehnea Mirro placed 10th to lead the Royals.

The Hamilton Heights girls team dominated at the Tipton Invitational on Saturday.
The Huskies took four of the top six places on their way to 22 points, including a sweep of the top two. Maria Mitchell won the individual race in a time of 19:48.93, with Abby Roth taking second. Abby Christiansen finished in fifth place, while Chloe Henderson was sixth.
University was fifth as a team. Jada Swearingen landed in the top 10 by taking ninth place. Sheridan’s Lexi Weiss was 15th.
Hamilton Heights’ boys team finished a close second to Lapel. The Bulldogs scored 48 points, with the Huskies scoring 53 points.
Preston Miller took sixth for Heights, with Price Knowles placing seventh.
University finished in fifth place, with Noah Laramore running to a third-place finish. Luke Poprik finished 31st for Sheridan.
