Tipton High School head football coach Aaron Tolle received a big honor on Monday, Oct. 26.

Tolle was named the Colts/NFL Coach of the Week, sponsored in part by Certor Sports.

Tolle’s Blue Devils were on the road on Friday, Oct. 23, and upset previously undefeated No. 7 Eastern (Greentown), 35-28.  As a result, the Blue Devils advanced to the sectional semifinal round of the IHSAA 2A Football Playoffs, where they faced Lewis Cass on Friday, Oct. 30.

Tolle is currently in his 22nd year as head coach at Tipton.

This is the 27th year that the Colts are recognizing high school football coaches throughout Indiana.

“All high school head coaches in the state are eligible regardless of their school size, league or division,” according to the Colts website. “Coaches are evaluated on various factors including the coach’s impact on the team, school and community, as well as the team’s performance. The honorees are selected by a panel of football media, former athletic directors and other football representatives from across the state.”

At the conclusion of the current season, “each winning coach will receive a $2,000 donation and a commemorative plaque.”
