The campaign for Sue Finkam for Carmel Mayor announced on Thursday the formation of a Youth Advisory Committee for her campaign and proposed changes to the Carmel Mayor’s Youth Council to give young generations a voice in in the city’s future.

“As a mother, giving our youth a seat at the table is important to assuring generational growth for Carmel families,” Finkam said. “When my son graduates college, I want him to return home to our community and grow his career and family. As Mayor, I want to ensure our city remains the best place to live, raise a family, start a business, and retire.”

The campaign’s Youth Advisory Committee will help identify the priorities of our youth, giving them a voice and an opportunity to be a part of Carmel’s next chapter. Carmel High School senior Ashilyn Joseph will help lead the committee. Jacob Bailey, Nolan Scozarro, and Liam Hansen are founding members.

“Sue Finkam’s outreach to our youth is an important quality we are looking for in our next mayor,” Joseph said. “Decisions made today will affect my generation and generations to come. Having a seat at the table and greater collaboration with our elected officials is paramount.”

In addition, Finkam has proposed changes to the Carmel Mayor’s Youth Council by involving the students in the day-to-day operations of the city, adding in an advisory role to the Mayor and City Council, and giving them a say in the strategic direction of Carmel’s future.
