The Carmel Police Department is proud to introduce the first of its 2020 Ford Hybrid AWD Police Interceptor SUVs. On Wednesday, CPD placed its first hybrid patrol vehicle into service. The hybrid AWD operates on battery power, using its gasoline engine to charge the batteries. Hybrid technology has improved to allow better performance than previous gasoline powered police vehicles while improving fuel economy and reducing emissions. Over the next several months, a total of 41 hybrid police patrol vehicles will be added to the fleet.
