Carmel intelligence firm adds three senior investigators

Veracity IIR, a Carmel-based global intelligence, investigation and research firm, has announced the addition of three new senior investigators to its staff as the firm continues to grow. Jeremy Bell, Paul Medernach and Jeff Smith were recently added to the firm’s roster of experts.

“It is important we continue to enhance our team with individuals who are at the top of their fields in investigations and security. We can continue to be the best place for our clients to turn to in their time of need,” said Veracity IIR Founder and CEO Doug Kouns, who has 22 years of FBI experience.

Jeremy Bell joins Veracity from the National Crime Agency in the United Kingdom, where he was a critical member of the intelligence and operational organization. He managed and mentored armed surveillance officers and developed specialized training on surveillance techniques and covert electronic usage. He has worked as an Investigations Officer in support of organized crime efforts and has investigated major fraud cases in the U.K. He has a Bachelor’s degree from the Loughborough University of Technology in the United Kingdom and has many professional awards and citations that he received over the course of his career.

Jeff Smith brings his career experience from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, where he retired in 2018. While serving in various supervisory roles, he was responsible for not only the detectives and police officers on his squads, but also for enhancing the relationship with the public. He was a critical member of teams specializing in investigating organized crime and was recognized as an expert witness in criminal street gang identification. Jeff has a Bachelor of Applied Science in Forest Industries Management and was a past recipient of the IMPD Investigative Officer of the Year Award.

Paul Medernach joins the firm after retiring from the FBI where he specialized in corporate, investment, healthcare and bank fraud. He served as both Acting Supervisory Special Agent of the Field Intelligence Group as well as a Relief Supervisor with the White Collar Squad. He served on the S.W.A.T. team while he was assigned to the Milwaukee office. Prior to his work in the FBI, he represented healthcare and government clients as a Certified Public Accountant for Deloitte and Touche. He has a Bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Minnesota and was previously nominated for Federal Employee of the Year while serving in the Milwaukee division.
