The public is invited to gather at Carter Green from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, for the third annual Diwali Festival of Lights.

Diwali, one of the most widely celebrated festivals in India, symbolizes the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance. The festival brings people together with vibrant decorations, the tradition of lighting lamps and the sharing of sweets among family and friends.

Following the success of last year’s gathering, this year’s third annual event offers an expanded cultural experience for all ages:

  • Cultural performances: Enjoy live dance, musical and artistic performances on the main stage continuously throughout the evening.
  • Festival market: Browse Diwali-themed huts featuring authentic Indian cuisine, gifts, and hand-crafted goods from more than 20 local vendors.
  • Kids’ art and activity area: Engaging, hands-on, cultural crafts and activities designed specifically for young attendees and families.
  • Palladiscope finale: The evening concludes with an exclusive Diwali-themed projection show mapped across the Palladium facade.
  • Collectible chai tea cups: Purchase a commemorative Diwali teacup to enjoy the memories of chai at home.
  • Indian spice spotlight: Learn about traditional Indian spices, their rich history, and cooking techniques in interactive vendor demonstrations.

“The Diwali Committee is dedicated to ensuring that this celebration is a true representation of our community’s vibrant diversity, values and shared traditions,” said Dr. Anita Joshi, Carmel City Councilor and chair of the Diwali committee.

Admission to the event is free and open to the public. Free shuttle service will be available between Carter Green and Carmel High School Stadium.
