Balance leads GC to victory over Patriots

Guerin Catholic picked up a win over Bethesda Christian 51-36 Tuesday at the Eagles Nest.
The Golden Eagles got out to a strong start, leading 14-5 after the first quarter, then held a 24-13 advantage at halftime. Kathryn Loso and Mia Thompson both scored eight points; Thompson’s total included two 3-pointers. The Patriots cut into GC’s lead slightly in the third quarter, but the Golden Eagles were still up 36-27 going into the fourth, and they pulled away by outscoring Bethesda 15-9 in that period.
Loso finished the game with 13 points, while Thompson scored 10. Thompson and Hannah Weitzel both made two 3s. Weitzel and Natalie Fernandez each added eight points, while Katie Koger scored seven as the Golden Eagles had solid balance.
Guerin Catholic is 10-8 and will now prepare for a weekend of back-to-back Circle City Conference games on the road. The Golden Eagles play at Brebeuf Jesuit on Friday and at Bishop Chatard on Saturday.
