AG Todd Rokita explains reasoning for agreeing to dismissal of Shabazz v. Rokita court case

By TODD ROKITA

Indiana Attorney General

As the ‘fake news’ has become the majority of the press these days, it has joined forces with the Left to limit our individual liberties while they try to destroy this state and our nation. Thankfully, We the People are on to them as subscription rates, advertising, and viewership continue their epic dive to all-time low levels.

The attorney general’s office was recently sued by a leading fake news member who alleged he was entitled to attend a press conference in my office. There is no such right, especially when the exact same event was online, in real time, including the ability to ask questions.

Now, I interact with the press members daily, addressing whatever hard, honest questions they raise. But, I have noticed these questions becoming fewer in number. This coincides with a rise of pundits, imitators, and hacks who want to be the story instead of reporting it accurately. The simple truth is that the press as a whole is now regarded with significant skepticism, or completely disregarded, because of the increasing number of imitators – many of whom are simply political operatives with an agenda.

We just agreed to dismiss this lawsuit – but not for the reasons the imitators, pundits and political operatives would have you believe. There are still some very important questions about the press to be answered at a time when the press has the lowest level of credibility ever – and when technology gives ‘We the People’ the ability to bypass the press entirely. At the same time, it also became clear that these answers, via the lawsuit, would be a long time coming and would be paid for by taxpayers. That’s unfair to us as well.

We handle and win big, arduous cases all the time with a very talented staff who do a great job. With the recent wrap up of the General Assembly, these same people are going to be needed to help me defend several very good statutes made by representatives and senators who were directly elected by the People to preserve their values and nurture their economic prosperity. The ban on biological males playing on women’s sports teams is just one example.

Aside from the Plaintiff, I am best positioned to control the time and cost of this lawsuit. That’s why I directed its dismissal – to save taxpayer money and to free up my office’s capacity to fight for these other laws and issues that deserve our focus. Anyone will be allowed admission consistent with terms and conditions utilized by my office for other press or media.

I have been the subject of over 13,000 press stories in just 14 months of being in office despite having hosted only one press conference in that same amount of time! We simply don’t use them much or need them, just like you don’t need to rely on the press’s biased filter to get the information you need to ask questions and do your duty as citizens. Technology has been a huge help to usher the political operative/imitator/amateur to the dust heap.

To empower people further so they can be less reliant on bad information, I have been developing and utilizing other ways to deliver information directly to you – and for you to communicate directly back. This keeps me and my office accountable and bolsters the People’s ability to do their duty – keeping the Republic.

  1. ‘The Press’ for good or bad is considered so important that it’s freedom is guaranteed in the 1st amendment of the Constitution of the United States, Mr. Rokita.
Did you not swear an oath to uphold that same constitution, 1st amendment included, or just the portions that suit your needs ?

” .. information directly to you”.
Who would be doing the fact checking on that direct information if not for the press being dismissed as little more than ‘fake news’ ?
We’ve seen this act before Mr. Attorney general, such rhetorc is a national embarrassment & in direct conflict with one of the founding principals of this nation. You know better, yet still ..
For a clearer picture of those ‘operatives with an agenda, pundits & hacks’, a look in the mirror will suffice. Sir.
