The Carmel and Fishers girls tennis teams won regional semi-final matches on Tuesday.
Up at Kokomo, the No. 1-ranked Greyhounds beat Twin Lakes 5-0. Carmel won four of the five matches 6-0, 6-0, with No. 2 doubles Ali Griffin and Addison Joyce winning 6-0, 6-1. Lauren Littell, Nora Perkins and Marina Duncan won singles matches, with Alexa Lewis and Hallie Reeves taking the No. 1 doubles match.
Carmel will play West Lafayette in today’s championship. The Red Devils beat Northwestern 3-2 in the other semi-final.
The No. 4-ranked Tigers advanced to the championship at Lawrence North by beating Cathedral 4-1 in the semi-finals. No. 1 singles Mischa Briggs won 6-0, 6-2, while No. 3 singles Caroline Ober got a 6-1, 6-1 victory. In doubles, No. 1 Emma Beehler and Cassie Maurer came back to win 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 and No. 2 Madelyn Barron and Meredith Ober triumphed 6-1, 6-2.
Fishers will play Lawrence North in today’s championship match. The Wildcats beat Mount Vernon 4-1 ni the other semi-final.
Also in doubles, Hamilton Southeastern’s No. 1 doubles team of Misha Bukkasagaram and Emily Orme won their match 6-1, 6-0 at the Lawrence North individual sectional, becoming the sectional champions. The Royals team will play at the Fishers regional next Saturday, June 4.
