Softball: Huskies cruise past Pike, Tigers win

The Hamilton Heights softball team cruised past Pike 14-4 in a six-inning home game on Thursday.
The Huskies blasted out of the gate, scoring nine runs in the first inning. That included RBI doubles by Isabella Neiling and Kassidy Schekel. Lily Roush hit two RBI singles in that same inning, while Kaylee Rhoton and Faith Hittle also batted in a run. The game finished in the sixth inning when Hittle scored after Roush reached on error.
Roush was 4-for-5 at the plate and totaled three RBIs. Ashlyn Fletcher hit a double, and Hittle had three hits and scored three runs. Neiling, Fletcher and Rhoton all had two hits. Roush pitched four innings, striking out 10 with no hits or walks.
Heights is 4-8 and plays at the Wabash Lady Apache Classic on Saturday at Honeywell Park Softball Field.

Fishers won a home game with Mount Vernon 5-4 on Thursday.
The Marauders led 4-1 midway through the third inning before the Tigers scored two runs in the third and fourth to get the lead. Karyn Trice had two hits and batted in two runs, while Sophie Schoch scored twice. Kate Murray also had two RBIs.
Murray got the pitching win, striking out nine over five innings and not allowing any hits.
Fishers is 5-8 and plays at Hoosier Crossroads Conference game tonight at Zionsville.

The Millers scored their run in the fourth inning when Kinsey Pfeiffer singled in Scout Duplaga. Lauren DeRolf had two hits.
