Walgreens, Skin Cancer Foundation partner to offer screenings in Westfield

Open to the public, the Destination: Healthy Skin touring RV will make a stop on Saturday at the Indianapolis Colts Training Camp at Grand Park Sports Campus in Westfield.

In the heat of summer, it is important to take necessary precautions to protect your skin while spending time in the sun. Walgreens has joined The Skin Cancer Foundation on the road this year in support of its Destination: Healthy Skin Program – a national effort to educate consumers about the importance of effective sun protection for skin cancer prevention and the importance of early detection.

Consumers will have the opportunity to check out Destination: Healthy Skin – complete with its innovative, customized RV where trained dermatologists will provide free full-body skin cancer screenings – when it makes it way to the Indianapolis Colts Training Camp in Westfield on Saturday. Screenings will be available from 1 to 4 p.m.

In addition to private skin cancer screenings, free sunscreen and SPF beauty products will be available along with advice from skin and beauty experts. Trained dermatologists will also be on hand to share sun care do’s and don’ts to stay skin safe. Walgreens beauty experts will be available to educate visitors on the importance of sun protection, offer best practices to treat sunburn, and information about the effects of prescription medications on sun sensitivity.

According to The Skin Cancer Foundation, skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States, and incidents continues to rise. In 2019 alone it is estimated that there will be 192,310 cases of melanoma diagnosed, one of the most dangerous forms of skin cancer. By attending regular screenings, there is a better chance for earlier detection and more effective treatment.
