Dear Editor:

A strong public school system is one of the foundations of a strong community. That is why we support the Sheridan Community Schools referendum.

For a small, rural community like Sheridan, our schools are about much more than classrooms and test scores. They are places where children learn, families build relationships, teachers invest in the next generation, and the community comes together. Strong schools also help attract families, support local businesses, and maintain the vitality of the community we call home.

The proposed referendum is intended to help sustain the stability of Sheridan Community Schools and the educational opportunities they provide, including retaining and attracting teachers and staff, maintaining academic programs, and covering operational expenses.

This is ultimately about more than a tax rate or a line item in a school budget. It is about maintaining the quality of education and the strength of the community that Sheridan families have built together over generations.

Strong schools and strong communities go hand in hand. Supporting our schools means investing in our children, our families, our local workforce, and the future of Sheridan itself.

Our schools are an investment in Sheridan’s future.
