Sheridan Main Street was given a festive touch thanks to the Sheridan Events Committee and its annual fundraiser.
The fundraiser is a great opportunity for the Sheridan community to fill the town with fall flair as well as help raise money for events next year. Sheridan Middle and High School Art students submitted three of the several scarecrows that were placed on light poles on Main Street to add a festive touch.
While any resident could enter a scarecrow, over the past few weeks, students at Sheridan have spent time designing and constructing these unique and homemade scarecrows. This project allowed students to be the true artists as they designed, found materials, and constructed the full-size scarecrows. Instead of relying on traditional art supplies, students brought in repurposed materials such as Styrofoam, PVC pipes, wood, pool noodles, straw, and fabric.
The fun part about this project is that each scarecrow is unique. No two scarecrows are alike because each group used their own imagination, creativity, and design process, as they constructed the scarecrows. Placing them around Main Street adds a personal touch that allows students to see their creativity come to life.
