More than 1,300 native trees, shrubs, and perennials have already been sold through the Hamilton County Soil and Water Conservation District’s (SWCD) annual Fall Native Tree & Plant Sale, with orders still being accepted through Thursday, Sept. 17.
The sale offers a wide selection of Indiana native trees, shrubs, flowers, and grasses for homeowners, organizations, and conservation projects. The annual sale helps make native plants more accessible for residents looking to add wildlife habitat, support pollinators, increase shade, manage wet areas, or simply add more native species to their landscapes.
“Seeing more than 1,300 plants already ordered shows how much interest there is in using native plants in our community,” SWCD Urban Conservationist Claire Lane said. “There is still time to order, and we have options for everything from a single backyard planting to larger habitat projects.”
Native plants are adapted to local growing conditions and provide important food and habitat for pollinators, birds, and other wildlife. The SWCD provides plant information to help customers select species based on sunlight, soil moisture, mature size, and landscape goals.
The Fall Native Tree & Plant Sale is the SWCD’s largest annual fundraiser, with proceeds supporting local conservation programs and services.
Orders must be placed by Sept. 17 and picked up at the Hamilton County 4-H Fairgrounds in Noblesville on Oct. 1 or 2. The sale is open to everyone; purchasers do not need to be Hamilton County residents.
