Carmel Mayor Sue Finkam announced via a video on social media that she will seek re-election in 2027, reaffirming her commitment to public safety, fiscal responsibility, and protecting Carmel’s exceptional quality of life.

“There’s more I want to accomplish, more problems to solve and more opportunities ahead for Carmel,” Finkam said in her announcement video. “I love this city and the incredible people who call it home. Serving as your mayor is an honor I never take for granted.”

Since taking office in January 2024, Finkam has focused on strengthening public safety, increasing government transparency and accountability, responsibly managing taxpayer dollars, and ensuring Carmel remains one of the best places to live, work, and raise a family.

“This job isn’t about having all of the answers,” Finkam said. “Listening, surrounding yourself with great people, being willing to make tough decisions and showing up every single day are what matters. That’s how I’ve approached this job, and I have no intention of slowing down.”

Finkam was elected mayor in 2023 after serving 12 years on the Carmel City Council. She is seeking a second four-year term in the Nov. 2, 2027, municipal election.
