Carmel Clay Schools partners with city for high-energy 250/50 Homecoming Pep Rally

The City of Carmel and Carmel Clay Schools are joining forces to invite students, families, alumni, and community members to a high-energy, family-friendly pep rally celebrating Carmel Homecoming, America’s 250th anniversary, and Carmel’s 50th year milestone.

The pep rally will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 Thursday, Oct. 1 at Midtown Plaza, 365 Monon Blvd.

The community-wide celebration will bring the city together for an evening packed with school spirit, interactive activities, special performances, and appearances by local leaders.

“Homecoming is always a special tradition, but pairing it with our 250/50 milestone makes this year even more special,” Mayor Sue Finkam said. “Our partnership with Carmel Clay Schools highlights the strong bond between our city leadership, our schools and the neighbors who make Carmel such an exciting place to live. We look forward to seeing the community come together to celebrate our shared Greyhound pride.”

Event highlights & programming

The evening features a dynamic pep rally program, along with family-friendly activities for all ages. Attendees will hear remarks from Mayor Finkam, Superintendent Dr. Thomas Oestreich, Carmel High School (CHS) Principal Dr. Tim Phares and other special guests, with WISH-TV sports director Anthony Calhoun serving as the event emcee.

Throughout the event, guests can visit interactive student booths with hands-on activities like face painting and bracelet making, catch an exciting hype video screening by the talented HoundsHQ media team and learn the fight song directly from CHS cheerleaders. Plus, WHJE will be live DJing the event while guests connect with local organizations at various community and City partner booths.

To celebrate, official Carmel Homecoming 250/50 spirit wear is on sale now. Pre-order now through Sept. 13 to receive your items in time for the weekend – with the option to have your order delivered directly to your local school – or pick up select gear at the CHS booth, where a limited quantity will be available on site alongside promotional items and exclusive Carmel Clay Schools giveaways.

“The contagious spirit of CHS Homecoming always lights up our high school and families, culminating with Friday night’s big game and the student dance over the weekend,” Dr. Oestreich said. “We are thrilled to host an event with the city that allows all of our Carmel families and Greyhounds, young and old, to come together for an evening of festivities centered on what makes this tradition so special: celebrating the community, connections and hometown we all love.”

Carmel’s Homecoming events continue with the traditional Homecoming Parade at noon on Friday, Oct. 2. The Carmel Greyhounds take on the Ben Davis Giants at 7 p.m. at the Carmel High School Stadium.
