Two Hamilton County golfers have made the cut for the Junior U.S. Amateur and will be playing this morning for a place in the final 64.
Eli Wessel, a Guerin Catholic graduate, and Hudson Kutchma, a Westfield graduate, both finished right on the cut line of five over par after the second day of stroke play at the tournament, which is taking place this week at Saucon Valley Country Club in Bethlehem, Pa. Both men played on the club’s Old Course for their Tuesday second round.
Kutchma scored a two under par 69 on Tuesday to reach the cut line, making four birdies during his round. Wessel also made four birdies and finished even par 71 on Tuesday.
The official standings showed a 14-way tie for 63rd place, meaning there are 14 players vying for the final two match play positions. A playoff will take place this morning to determine those last two players.
Elijah Lemmon of McCordsville also competed in the stroke play round, finishing at 17 over par. Lemmon scored 77 on the first day and 81 on the second day, which he played on Saucon Valley’s Grace Course.
