Mary Waldschmidt

August 9, 1935 – July 4, 2026

Mary Elinor Wilson Waldschmidt, 90, Noblesville, went Home to our Heavenly Father on July 4, 2026. She was born in Lower Merion, Pa., to Franklin (Frank) and Mary Wilson on August 9, 1935. Mary attended the University of Miami, Coral Gables, where she met her husband, Alan Parker Waldschmidt. They were married for 60 years before his death.

Mary raised four children and was a selfless, giving human being who was always thinking of others. She was an accomplished seamstress and an impeccable housekeeper. She worked in Accounting and Finance for both ITT and Howard W. Sams Publishing.

Upon retiring, she helped raise several grandchildren before she and her husband moved back to Florida to enjoy their retirement. She loved walking the beaches collecting seashells, riding bikes, and playing tennis with Alan. Missing family, they moved back to Indiana, settling in Noblesville.

Mary is survived by her brothers, Edmund “Bud” Wilson and William (Bill) Wilson; daughter, Barbara Yattaw; son, John Waldschmidt; 10 grandchildren, notably her partner in crime and best friends, Emily Grace Good, who took her grams shopping and out to lunch weekly, and Sarah Jane Good, who moved in with her after Alan’s death to keep her company and helped her thrive. In addition, she was blessed with 13 great-grandchildren.

She held a special place in her heart for her nieces and nephew and their spouses and children, Debbie Hancock, Cheryl (John) Kruse, Lisa (Carl) Ziehr, and nephew Richard (Sue) Morgan.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Alan; her parents, Frank and Mary; sister, Barbara Laubert; son, Mark Alan Waldschmidt; son-in-law Gary Yattaw; and daughter, Karen Marie Waldschmidt King.

We would be remiss not to mention her Angels on Earth, neighbors Brenda Slone and Bill and Annie Fraley. They kept an eye on her and helped in so many ways. We will be forever grateful for how kind they were to our mom.

Cremation will be handled by Indiana Funeral Care with burial in Plainfield, Ind. A private gravesite service will be held at a later date.
