Help save food from local farmers markets

Hamilton County Harvest Food Bank (HCHFB) needs your help to save fresh produce from ending up in the trash. Staring Saturday, May 2, volunteers can transport fresh food from local farmers markets to HCHFB’s warehouse in Cicero.

HCHFB receives produce donations from various farms across Hamilton County from May to October. During the season, donations are picked up from the Fishers and Noblesville Farmers Markets each Saturday.

Volunteers will be trained, and once at the warehouse, donated produce will be unloaded, weighed, logged, then put away.

This is a great activity as you are able to bring family members along, and any type of vehicle should work. Because this activity requires training, HCHFB prefers to find volunteers who can commit to helping at least three times through the season.
