IHA issues statement on state review of direct-to-employer health care arrangements

Submitted

Following the Indiana Department of Health’s announcement regarding its inaugural review of direct-to-employer (DTE) health care arrangement plans, Indiana Hospital Association (IHA) President Scott B. Tittle released the following statement:

Tittle

IHA applauds our hospital members for their innovative, market-based approaches that are helping employers better manage costs while maintaining access to high-quality care for their employees. Thank you to Governor Mike Braun and Representative Carbaugh and Senator Garten as the author and sponsor of House Enrolled Act 1004 for encouraging these direct-to-employer health care arrangements. By working more directly with hospitals or targeted networks to cut out unnecessary middleman, employers can improve health outcomes of their employees, reduce administrative complexity, and create more predictable health care spending.

As the state’s review shows, hospitals are more than delivering on competitive, transparent pricing that aligns with employers’ needs, and IHA looks forward to the ongoing growth of these models in the future.
