University scored big early and late, propelling the Trailblazers to a 12-3 win at Lewis Cass on Tuesday.
Cooper Cammack blasted a three-run home run in the first inning, also bringing home Beckett Suh and Oliver Kingery. Finn Steiner followed that with a solo homer, giving University a 4-0 lead.
The Kings got on the board in the top of the third inning with one run. Suh hit a triple in the bottom of the inning, and scored after Cammack hit a triple. Ryan Castetter led off the fifth inning with a home run, giving the Blazers a 6-1 lead.
University then put up six runs in the sixth inning. Phillip Jacobs bunted Ethan Cutsinger home for the inning’s first run. The Trailblazers loaded the bases, then Suh drove a base hit into right field, scoring Jacobs and Braxton Sparks. Kingery got home on Cammack’s sacrifice fly, then David Gasper homered into left field, also scoring Suh.
Suh was perfect, hitting 3-for-3 with a triple, double and single. Cammack pitched four innings for the win, striking out five and allowing two hits.
University is 7-5 and plays at Brownsburg this afternoon.

Guerin Catholic, the No. 2-ranked team in Class 3A, kept rolling with a 9-1 Circle City Conference win at Brebeuf Jesuit on Tuesday.
The Golden Eagles scored two runs in the first inning. Ian Taylor batted in Nolan Ratcliff, then was brought home by a Grant Beard hit.
Luke Gremelspacher opened the second inning with a home run, putting GC up 3-0. Ben Canada doubled the score to 6-0 in the fourth inning with a three-run homer, also bringing in Ratcliff and Brody Cain.
Karson Smith hit a triple in the fifth inning, then scored on Beard’s RBI groundout. Brebeuf scored its run in the sixth inning, but the Golden Eagles answered with two runs in the seventh. Taylor and Carson Kail (who hit a double) got home when Smith reached on error.
Tate Troxell pitched a dominant five innings for the win, striking out 12 and allowing one hit.
Guerin Catholic is 3-0 in conference play and 11-1-1 overall. The Golden Eagles host Brebeuf this afternoon to complete the CCC series.
