Saturday, Jan. 10, the Huskies played their second home game in a row. It would not be easy, but Heights fought off everything the Tigers brought at them.
A balanced attack on offense would be a key part in besting the Tigers in overtime, 53-50.
Heights seemed to be in control from the opening tip, taking off from where they left off on Friday against Northwestern.
Leading 17-7 after one, it got a little more difficult.
Yorktown was able to score 28 to Heights’ 17 in the second and third periods to lead 35-34 heading to the fourth.
Hamilton Heights took the fourth 9-8 to tie it 43-43, forcing overtime.
Home court advantage took over in the extra frame as Heights outscored Yorktown 10-7 to hold off the Tigers.
Rees Knapp scored 20 to lead Heights. Jackson Mikesell and Gavin Lucchesi joined Knapp in double-figures with 10 apiece and Jack Kakasuleff pitched in with nine.
The Huskies (3-7) have a three-game winning streak heading into Friday’s home game against Lapel (5-3).
