Heights drops two tough games

Hamilton Heights dropped two tough games over the past weekend.

The Huskies hosted New Castle on Friday, Dec. 5 and lost in triple overtime, 71-68. Heights was down 28-21 at halftime but rallied in the second half to tie the game 49-49 by the end of regulation.

The contest was knotted at 55-55 after the first OT, then Caleb Sullivan made a basket at the second-overtime buzzer to make the score 64-64 and send the game to a third OT. The Trojans outscored the Huskies 7-4 in that period.

Jackson Mikesell scored 17 points, followed by Rees Knapp with 16 and Sullivan with 13, including three 3-pointers. Sullivan collected nine rebounds and Drew Woodruff pulled eight rebounds. Jack Kakasuleff dished out six assists.

Heights traveled to Mississinewa on Saturday, Dec. 6 and fell 69-42. The Indians outscored the Huskies in all four quarters, leading 39-20 at halftime.

Knapp and Justin Overton both had seven points and five rebounds.

Heights is 0-3 and plays at Logansport Friday to begin Hoosier Conference play.
