Blazers cruise to PAAC opener win

University’s boys opened Pioneer Academic Athletic Conference North Division play Friday, Dec. 9 with a 92-25 rout of Seton Catholic at The U Center.

The Trailblazers shot 71 percent from the field and put five players in double figures in their second running clock victory in three days.

Josh Henderson led a balanced University attack in scoring with 15 points. Faisal Mohamud had 14 points and Blake Gray had 13 points, six assists, three steals and two blocked shots.  Peter Morales came off the bench to score 11 and Josh McGee had 10 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Cooper Cammack contributed seven points and seven rebounds.

University was in control throughout jumping to a 12-2 lead just three minutes into the game. Seven Trailblazers scored in the first quarter as they led 26-8 after the opening quarter.  University stretched the lead to 48-15 scoring 15 straight points before a late Seton Catholic basket.

Blake Gray’s three pointer just 13 seconds into the third quarter activated the running clock. Eleven different Blazers dented the scoring column as University improved to 2-1 on the season.

University has a pair of tough games this week. The Blazers will host 2A No. 14 Cardinal Ritter on Tuesday and travel to 1A No. 3 Liberty Christian on Saturday in a PAAC North showdown.
