Westfield’s boys dropped a back-and-forth game to Pendleton Heights 60-56 Tuesday at CSI Gymnasium.
The Arabians jumped in front 17-8 after the first quarter, but the Shamrocks came roaring back in the second period. Westfield outscored Pendleton 14-4 for a 22-21 halftime lead. Brock Detamore scored 12 first-half points.
The third quarter was a repeat of the first, with the Arabians pouring in 22 points to take a 43-32 lead going into the fourth. The Rocks made a comeback in the fourth, scoring 24 points in that period.
Drew Haffner made a three-point play to tie the game at 54-54, then after a Pendleton basket, Ryan Hunsucker got a steal under the Westfield basket and was fouled, making both free throws to tie the game at 56-56. But the Arabians hit a 3-pointer that proved to be the game-winner.
Detamore led the Shamrocks scoring with 15 points, with Haffner adding 14 points, including 10 in the fourth. Hunsucker finished with 10, scoring nine in the fourth quarter.
Westfield is 1-1 and hosts Zionsville on Friday to begin Hoosier Crossroads Conference play.
