Blazers win third straight game

University used a 22-0 second half run to pick up their third road victory of the week, defeating Muncie Central 57-32 Saturday, Nov. 15 at historic Muncie Fieldhouse.

Gabby Culp scored 19 of her career-high 22 points in the second half as the Trailblazers held the Bearcats scoreless for more than eight minutes to cruise to the victory.

Leah Norvell scored 14 points and Sydney Culp 10 as three Trailblazers hit double figures. Gabby Culp had a team-high 14 rebounds while Mack Feeney pulled down 10 boards and Norvell nine.

University never trailed in the game and sprinted to an early 12-3 lead and led 18-10 after the first quarter. Sydney Culp had eight first quarter points including a pair of three pointers.

The Trailblazers held Muncie Central without a field goal for the first five minutes of the second quarter, building a 27-11 lead before the Bearcats scored the last five points of the half. Norvell had five second quarter points.

Muncie Central scored the first four points of the second half to close to 27-20 before the Trailblazers took control, outscoring the Bearcats 30-4 over the next 13 minutes.

Feeney had team highs with seven assists and five blocked shots.

University is now 3-2 on the season and return home to The U Center on Tuesday to host Class 3A No. 6 Indianapolis Roncalli. Tipoff is 7:30 pm.
