I kept my promises to the HSE community

As I conclude my term on the Hamilton Southeastern (HSE) School Board, I wrap up with a full heart and a clear conscience. From day one, I made a promise to serve with integrity – and I held that promise close throughout every decision I made. I campaigned on core values: fiscal accountability, educational excellence, and a commitment to prioritize the needs of students, parents, and teachers over politics. I stayed true to those values every step of the way.

My tenure was marked by transparency, courage, and a willingness to do what’s right – even when it meant standing alone.

A budget watchdog who stood for accountability

Fiscal responsibility was always a cornerstone of my service. When discussions around the school referendum came to a vote, I chose to abstain – not out of indecision, but on principle. Despite multiple requests, critical questions about the district’s financial transparency went unanswered. That lack of clarity also led me to vote against the inherited budget.

Rather than offering a rubber stamp, I chose to defer to the voters – because I believe taxpayers, not politicians, should have the final say in how their money is spent. It wasn’t the easy choice, but it was the right one. I stood apart from others who moved forward despite unresolved concerns.

Defending parents, empowering teachers

Throughout my time on the board, I remained a strong advocate for the voices of parents and the professional autonomy of teachers. That commitment earned the support of organizations like the Fishers Fraternal Order of Police, the Central Indiana Coalition of Conservatives, the Hamilton County GOP, and Fishers One – a grassroots group of parents, educators, and community members committed to academic excellence.

I consistently supported educators who teach with integrity and professionalism, free from ideological or political agendas. I believe our classrooms must remain places of learning – not activism. That’s how we ensure students receive the quality education they deserve, led by empowered teachers who can focus on what matters most.

Holding the line on principle

One of the most pivotal moments of my term came during a vote on a controversial mental health grant. I voted no – not because I oppose mental health support, but because I had real concerns about the program’s long-term sustainability, lack of oversight, and fiscal responsibility.

I wasn’t interested in performative politics. My decision was based on principle. I believe that the emotional and psychological well-being of our students must be treated with the seriousness it deserves – not used as a talking point or a political tool. Transparency and accountability must always come first.

A record that speaks for itself

I’m proud of what I accomplished on the HSE School Board. My record reflects not just accountability to the community – but also a deep commitment to the values that earned the voters trust in the first place.

Whether it was holding the administration accountable, defending our teachers from political interference, or standing alone when necessary, I’ve done my best to lead with integrity.

I listened. I led. I kept my word.

These thoughts and opinions are mine and mine alone as I represent one of a board of seven.
