The City of Noblesville announced Sept. 30 that Caterpillar Inc. will establish a high-tech operation in its growing Innovation Mile District.
Caterpillar Inc., a global leader in manufacturing and technology, will soon open a cutting-edge motor prototyping facility at 13975 Westinghouse Drive, located to the west of The Arena at Innovation Mile fronting Interstate 69. As a technology leader for more than a century, Caterpillar continues to innovate and invest in the advancement of energy solutions and electrification, helping its customers meet their sustainability goals and needs.
The facility, previously occupied by BorgWarner, will focus on the development of advanced electric motor technologies and is expected to bring approximately 25 high-skilled jobs to the community. Caterpillar’s initial investment includes leasing the 103,000 square-foot space and acquiring existing state-of-the-art equipment already on-site. Built in 2018, the facility offers a strong foundation for continued innovation and collaboration.
“This is exactly the type of project we envisioned when we launched Innovation Mile,” Noblesville Mayor Chris Jensen said. “Caterpillar investing in Noblesville brings together innovation, advanced manufacturing, and meaningful high-wage job creation in a way that aligns with Noblesville’s long-term vision for strategic, sustainable growth.”
“We’re excited to expand our presence in Noblesville and contribute to a community that shares our focus on innovation and opportunity,” Caterpillar Vice President of Engineering Brian Dershem said. “This facility will allow us to advance our manufacturing technologies while leveraging the region’s strong talent base and supporting the development of tomorrow’s workforce.”
“The ability to occupy this space so quickly with a company like Caterpillar is a testament to our city’s strategic vision, collaborative spirt and commitment to excellence,” Noblesville Economic Development Director Andrew Murray said. “We welcome Caterpillar to Noblesville and are excited for their immediate impact to the community.”
