Shepherd’s Center of Hamilton County & Duke Energy work together to enrich lives at new ‘Together Today’ location

The Shepherd’s Center of Hamilton County (SCHC) recently received a grant from Duke Energy for the organization’s new Together Today location in in Sheridan.

With Duke Energy’s support, Together Today Sheridan will be able to help adults aged 55 and over prevent isolation. Together Today is designed to enrich the lives of older adults in Hamilton County through engaging activities, meals, and meaningful social connections.

“SCHC is happy to bring our Together Today program back to Sheridan,” SCHC Executive Director Lauren Guynn said. “Older Adults make up nearly 40 percent of Sheridan’s population. With a limited number of aging resources in this rural community, we appreciate Duke Energy’s support in being able to expand our program and HAND for hosting us at Spicewood Gardens. Our goal is to help prevent isolation and continue to cultivate community for adults 55+ in this great town.”

The new Sheridan location for Together Today will offer a welcoming environment where older adults can enjoy a variety of activities, meals and build friendships – all at no cost to them.

“Enabling seniors to be socially connected with others preventing isolation and food insecurity is an important community service the Duke Energy Foundation recognizes,” Duke Energy Government & Community Relations Manager Mark LaBarr said. “We appreciate the work done by the SCHC team to implement the programming.”
