Barbara “Bobbie” (Bailey) Sturdevant

December 17, 1929 – June 17, 2026

Barbara “Bobbie” (Bailey) Sturdevant passed away at 96 years old on June 17, 2026. She was born on December 17, 1929, to Russell Warren and Anna Mildred (Goff) Bailey.

She married the love of her life, Ted W. Sturdevant, on June 8, 1948.

After Bobbie & Ted were married, they spent their lives farming until his death in 1986. They enjoyed square dancing, fishing, camping, playing euchre, and bowling with family and friends. Bobbie loved flowers, gardening, spending winters in Florida where she learned how to play shuffleboard and spent many hours beading and crafting. Most of all, Bobbie loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She spent many hours with them mushroom hunting, teaching them multiple skills, making biscuits & gravy for breakfast, and she never said no to a rowdy game of softball or having a contest of standing on her head with them.

Bobbie was a faithful servant to God and attended East Union Christian Church. She was a member of Eastern Star.

Bobbie is survived by her four girls; Mary Overdorf, Linda (Ray) Rockwell, Connie (Dan) Maynard, and Vickie (Keith) Conway along with her 14 grandchildren, Terry, Andy, Kim, Kelly, Tracey, Sandy, Mitchell, Melanie, Brad, Shelly, Melissa, Bryce, Luke, and Jenica, 37 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren; her brother, David Bailey; and her sisters, Carolyn and Sue Hefflemire.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Ted, her son-in-law Rick Overdorf, her parents, her father & mother-in-law Russell & Ruth Sturdevant, her beloved Aunt Bonnie and Uncle Rollie Goff, and her sisters Patty Thomas, Becky Mendenhall, and Kay Harris.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at East Union Christian Church, 1711 E. 296th St., Atlanta, where family and friends are invited to gather from 11 a.m. till time of services. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to East Union Christian Church. Everyone is invited to sign the online guestbook, leave a condolence or share a memory at fisherfamilyfunerals.com.
