Carmel’s boys basketball team got two big wins on the road last weekend.
First, the Greyhounds traveled to North Central last Friday and returned home with a 48-47 victory. It was a tight game the entire time, as Carmel led 16-15 after one quarter and 31-30 at halftime. The Panthers went ahead 38-36 after a defensive third period, but the ‘Hounds outscored NC 12-9, holding on at the last second to get the win.
Julian Vogt drained four 3-pointers for Carmel on his way to 16 points, with Alex Couto hitting three 3s while scoring 14 points. Evan Harrell added nine points. Zach Michaels led the rebounds with six.
The Greyhounds traveled to Kokomo last Saturday and dominated that game, beating the Wildkats 74-36. Carmel outscored Kokomo in each quarter, leading 22-11 after one and 36-21 at halftime. The ‘Hounds then sailed through the second half, outscoring the Wildkats 38-15.
Miles Wiley had 13 points for the Greyhounds, with Ben Bremer adding 12 and Michaels scoring 10. Aiden Dickerson collected seven rebounds, with Jamichael Fountain and Harrell pulling five rebounds each. Couto dished out five assists and Bremer had two blocked shots.
Carmel is 5-1 for the season. The Greyhounds play two games this weekend at the Paul Loggan Invitational at North Central; Carmel plays Lake Central at 3:15 p.m. Friday and Evansville Reitz at 11:45 a.m. Saturday.
