Stephanie Ann Ottinger, 50, passed away at her home in Sheridan on Saturday, May 11, 2024. Born July 31, 1973, in Noblesville, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Matthew and Janet Rose (Keesling) Ottinger.
She was a June 5, 1993, graduate of Westfield High School. While everyone remembers the year they graduated high school, they don’t necessarily remember the date. That was never a problem for Stephanie’s family, as her graduation day was also the day that country music legend Conway Twitty passed away.
Both Stephanie and her twin sister Jennifer were always very proud of their family’s military service. Her way to show her support was through her membership in the KV Elliott Post 67 American Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary.
As folks get older, they get set in their ways, and Stephanie was no exception. She loved to go for rides with her family (she had her favorite routes), and while out and about, why not get something to eat? She had her favorite spots, but the top of the list was always the McDonald’s in Cicero. They treated Stephanie like a queen every time she and her family would visit. Stephanie also enjoyed the Blizzard specials at the Dairy Queen, and she was a big fan of free pie Wednesdays at O’Charley’s.
Stephanie enjoyed watching her favorite TV programs. Let’s Make a Deal and The Price is Right were her morning standards, but she also liked watching NASCAR races. Nothing went better with TV watching than peanut M&M’s, junk food, and an ice-cold Pepsi.
Stephanie was a huge IU fan. Some of her friends from “around the neighborhood” loved to torment her by hanging Purdue stuff on her wheelchair. Their antics drove her up the wall, but also showed her that she was loved by many.
Stephanie is survived by her twin sister, Jenifer Rose Ottinger of Sheridan; aunt, Carol Jean Keesling of Ft. Smith, Ark; many cousins; and by her pug, Buddy.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Floyd Matthew and Janet Rose (Keesling) Ottinger; paternal grandparents, Francis Leonard and Ocal Leona (Brown) Ottinger; maternal grandparents, Kenneth G. and E. Fern (Whicker) Keesling; many aunts and uncles; and her canine furbaby, her pug, Buster.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 20, 2024, at Kercheval Funeral Home, 306 E. 10th St., Sheridan, with visitation from noon until the time of service.
Burial will follow at Spencer Cemetery in Sheridan.
Pastor George Cooper will be officiating.
