The Guerin Catholic basketball teams split a Circle City Conference doubleheader at Bishop Chatard on Friday.
The Golden Eagles girls dropped their game 61-27. The Trojans led 22-5 after one quarter and 43-15 at halftime, then allowed Guerin Catholic only two points in the third period.
Kori Dues had two 3-pointers on her way to eight points.
In the boys game, the Class 3A No. 5 Golden Eagles went back and forth with Chatard before pulling away in the fourth quarter for a 56-52 victory. With the win, Guerin Catholic stayed unbeaten in the conference at 3-0.
The Trojans led GC 13-10 after the first period, but Guerin Catholic came back to lead 28-26 at halftime. Bryson Cardinal scored 10 points in the second quarter.
Chatard had control of the third quarter, pouring in 18 points to take a 44-40 lead. The Golden Eagles responded with solid defense in the fourth quarter, permitting only eight points to the Trojans. Meanwhile, Cardinal stepped up with another 10-point period to help Guerin get the win.
Cardinal finished with a double-double of 24 points and 12 rebounds. Robert Sorensen added 14 points and seven rebounds, while Dylan Murans scored 12 points.
The Guerin Catholic boys are 10-4 overall and host Covenant Christian next Friday in another conference game. The Guerin Catholic girls are 1-2 in CCC play and 7-10 overall, and host Roncalli Tuesday to continue conference action.
