Girls basketball: Huskies waste no time knocking off No. 10 Blackford

The Hamilton Heights girls basketball team took down another one of Class 2A’s top 10 teams on Thursday.

The 3A No. 4 Huskies overwhelmed 2A No. 10 Blackford 58-26 in an away game. Heights outscored the Bruins in each quarter, leading 11-5 after one period and 30-12 at halftime. Katie Brown hit four 3-pointers in the first half.

The Huskies continued to roll in the third quarter, adding another 19 points. Camryn Runner scored eight points, she led the Huskies with 20 points overall. Brown finished with 15 and Hadleigh Cherry drained three 3s on her way to 10 points.

Heights is 12-2 for the season. The Huskies are back in action on Dec. 30 when they play two games at the Huntington North Classic. Heights takes on Plymouth at 11:45 a.m. and Wawasee at 6 p.m.
