One of the most beloved singers in the history of American popular music will be the focus of Michael Feinstein’s annual spring performance at the Center for the Performing Arts.

Because of You: A Tribute to the Legendary Tony Bennett is set for 8 p.m. Friday, May 17, at the Palladium, 1 Carter Green, Carmel.

Supported by the Carnegie Hall Big Band, Feinstein will bring Bennett’s iconic songs to life in a symphony of sound. The performance will feature hits such as “Because of You,” “Rags to Riches,” “I Left My Heart in San Francisco,” “The Best is Yet to Come,” “I Get a Kick Out of You,” “Stranger in Paradise” and many more.

Bennett, who died July 21 at age 96, performed three times at the Palladium, most recently in May 2019, when the Great American Songbook Foundation inducted him into its Songbook Hall of Fame. Feinstein’s personal friendship with Bennett will add depth to the performance.

“Tony Bennett is one of the most enduring icons of the 20th century,” said Feinstein, the performer and preservationist who founded the Songbook Foundation and serves as artistic director for the Center for the Performing Arts. “He has created a body of work surpassed by none.”

Tickets starting at $45 are on sale now at TheCenterPresents.org, by phone at (317) 843-3800, or in person at the Palladium’s Fifth Third Bank Box Office.

The performance is part of the Hoosier Village & The Barrington of Carmel Songbook Series and the 2023-2024 Center Presents Season, presented in partnership with Allied Solutions.
