You can support cancer research with M/I Homes & Pelotonia

Residential homebuilder M/I Homes of Indianapolis has begun construction on its Benefit Home in the Helm’s Mill community in McCordsville.

The project will mark the builder’s fifth consecutive year constructing a Benefit Home in Indiana in support of Pelotonia, a nonprofit that funds innovative cancer research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC-James). This follows a successful 2025 campaign, where M/I Homes of Indianapolis, along with the generosity of nearly 70 business partners, donated $386,394 in support of the nonprofit’s mission.

To expand its impact in central Indiana in 2026, in addition to vendor donations of labor and materials, M/I Homes of Indianapolis will match all monetary contributions dollar for dollar, up to $150,000.

This year’s Benefit Home is in the amenity-rich Helm’s Mill community and showcases the popular two-story Foster floorplan, featuring an open-concept kitchen and dining nook, four bedrooms, a flex room, and a two-car garage.

The project is part of M/I Homes’ broader effort this year to construct 17 Benefit Homes across all its divisions in collaboration with local partner contractors, vendors, and suppliers. This builds on a philanthropic partnership launched in 2021 that has resulted in the construction of 61 Benefit Homes and raised more than $14 million to advance Pelotonia’s mission of accelerating innovative cancer research.

The partnership’s impact also reaches Indiana. As a National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, the OSUCCC–James actively collaborates on research with other NCI-designated Cancer Centers and Big Ten partners, including the Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Purdue Institute for Cancer Research.

“This project goes beyond building homes, it’s about building hope and saving lives,” said Cassian Bernard, Area President of M/I Homes of Indiana. “It represents what can be achieved through strong corporate and community partnerships and working alongside our trade partners and professional network here in Indiana to create financial support for critical cancer research.”

The home in Helm’s Mill is now selling and M/I Homes of Indiana expects to host a dedication ceremony in the fall, at which time it will announce the total amount of the donation to Pelotonia.
