The YMCA of Greater Indianapolis is joining the global Giving Tuesday movement and participating in the Indianapolis Gives Challenge, a city-wide fundraising initiative hosted by Indianapolis Monthly to elevate the work of nonprofits strengthening the community.
This effort comes at a critical moment. Indiana families are navigating a growing childcare funding crisis, with recent cuts leaving many parents suddenly without support and hundreds of children without access to the safe, high-quality care they depend on. The Y is stepping in to help ensure local families don’t face these challenges alone.
Giving Tuesday & Indianapolis gives challenge
Challenge dates: Dec. 1-11. During this 11-day giving window, the Y will raise funds for its Childcare Crisis Campaign, an initiative designed to help working parents stay employed while keeping children learning, growing and connected to dependable support systems.
Why this challenge matters
Every donation made to the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis during the challenge at the link below directly supports families in need. Gifts help:
- Keep childcare affordable for families across Central Indiana
- Provide stability so parents can remain employed
- Ensure children never lose access to a safe, caring and educational environment
There is also an opportunity to earn bonus funds. If the Y raises the most money during the challenge period, additional dollars will be awarded – allowing every contribution to go even further for families experiencing hardship.
“Your gift during the challenge doesn’t just support the Y, it helps us secure additional funding so more families can access the care and stability they need,” said Justin Blackstone, Senior Vice President of Development and Chief Development Officer. “Together, the community can help build a healthier, more equitable, more connected community – one family at a time.”
