William Franklin “Bill” Nevitt

March 17, 1932 – October 17, 2018

William Franklin “Bill” Nevitt, 86, Noblesville, passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield. He was born on March 17, 1932 to the late James and Helen (Miller) Nevitt in Noblesville.

Bill was a 1950 Noblesville High School graduate, received a Bachelor’s degree from DePauw University and a Master’s degree from the University of Miami. He earned letters in football, basketball and track at Noblesville and played football for all four years at DePauw. Bill’s 36-year career at Noblesville High School encompassed teaching physical education, health, driver training and math; coaching track, football and basketball; serving as Athletic Director for 17 years; and starting the golf program.

After retiring in 1991, Bill delivered flowers for Adrienes and worked as a tour guide for AAA and Grueninger Tours, which took him to many cities around the world. He was also in the antique business and enjoyed woodworking, making toys and refinishing furniture. Bill was a member of First Christian Church of Noblesville where he ran the sound system and sang in the choir.

Bill is survived by his wife, Linda Kay (Lehr) Nevitt, who he married in 1956; sons, Kent Nevitt (Lisa) and Craig Nevitt (Laura); daughter, Dawn Eads (Rick); as well as five grandchildren, Ryan, Tyler and Nick Eads and Stephanie and Matthew Nevitt.

Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road, Noblesville. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 22, 2018 at the funeral home, with Rev. Richard D. Bell officiating. Private burial will be at Crownland Cemetery in Noblesville.
