The Westfield Washington Schools (WWS) Board of School Trustees approved a revised 2026-2027 school calendar and took several additional actions at its regular meeting. The items below represent meeting highlights and are not a comprehensive summary of all discussion or action taken.
Revised 2026-2027 School Calendar
The Board approved a revised 2026-2027 school calendar following a change to the LIV Golf schedule, which will now begin Thursday, Aug. 20, 2026. The revision preserves instructional time and professional development days, avoids starting school during the first full week of August, and supports building moves while minimizing disruption for students and staff.
Key revisions include:
- First student day moved to Monday, Aug. 17, 2026
- WWS closed Thursday, Aug. 20, 2026, and Friday, Aug. 21, 2026
- Students attend three days during the first week of school
- Teacher workdays and professional development shifted to the prior week
- Calendar adjustments support operational needs and planned building moves
- Instructional time and professional development days remain intact
Westfield High School additions & renovations: architectural/engineering services approved
The Board approved CSO Architects to provide full architectural and engineering services for the renovation and expansion of Westfield High School, a major project that includes replacement of key building systems; renovations to instructional and student spaces; construction of new learning, performing arts, and athletic/locker room areas; and significant site improvements, including parking and pedestrian updates and full track replacement.
The estimated construction cost is $88 million.
To support next steps, the Board also authorized the administration to advertise and begin the selection process for a Construction Manager as Constructor (CMc) – a delivery method that helps manage cost, schedule, and coordination for large-scale projects. Design work is slated to begin in early 2026, with construction occurring in phases through summer 2028.
