Westfield cutting ribbon on Monon Trail Pedestrian Bridge

Rendering provided

This Friday, the City of Westfield will cut the ribbon on the long-awaited Monon Pedestrian Bridge. The structure spans State Road 32 and a future extension of Tournament Trail near Wheeler Road. It is almost twice as long as the Monon Trail Bridge at 146th Street and will allow Monon Trail users to cross State Road 32 safely and unimpeded. Westfield Mayor Andy Cook and city leaders will join members of the Westfield Running Club at 10 a.m. Friday morning on the south end of the bridge to cut the ribbon. Parking will be available at Grindstone on the Monon, 17470 Wheeler Road. You can also watch the ribbon cutting live on the City of Westfield’s Facebook page.

    It’s about time!
Why is it that the city of Carmel can build a similar structure in a fraction of the time it takes Westfield? I watched for months as that bridge sat idle with no work being done. Just another reason that Westfield is the weak sister to Carmel.

They need to build a tunnel at 61st street next before someone gets killed. They will eventually if they don’t. Other than that, this is fantastic!
