Volleyball: Shamrocks remain undefeated for the week

The Westfield volleyball team completed an undefeated week on Saturday by beating Plainfield 25-13, 25-20, 25-12.

Lucy Muntel hit 12 kills for the Shamrocks, while Chloe Sutake put down nine kills. Junior Lilly Tucker served four aces, and her classmate Lilly Stanton dished out 26 assists. Senior Olivia Nelson had seven assists and sophomore Izzy Jackson handed out five assists.

On defense, seniors Mallory Weber and Mallory Neale both collected nine digs, while Stanton had eight digs.

Westfield plays Tuesday at Hamilton Heights.

Hamilton Southeastern hosted the North vs. South Showdown on Saturday.

The Royals picked up two straight-set wins at the event. First Southeastern swept Center Grove 25-10, 25-13, 25-14, then beat Franklin Community 25-9, 25-6, 25-16.

The Royals are 25-1 and play Tuesday at Greenfield-Central.

Noblesville also won two matches at the North vs. South Showdown Saturday at Hamilton Southeastern.

The Millers beat Franklin Community 25-16, 25-21, 23-25, 25-16, and Center Grove 25-22, 25-14, 19-25, 25-20.

Noblesville improved to 19-5 with the victories and plays Monday at New Palestine.

Guerin Catholic hosted Fishers and Greenfield-Central in a three-team event Saturday.

The Golden Eagles beat G-C 25-14, 25-22, 25-21 in their first match, while Fishers beat the Cougars in four sets, 25-18, 23-25, 25-15, 25-19. The Tigers then defeated Guerin Catholic in four sets, 25-18, 25-9, 26-28, 25-17.

Fishers is 17-6 and hosts Yorktown on Tuesday. The Golden Eagles are 11-17 and welcome Zionsville on Tuesday.
